Our Products

24 inch continuous aluminum hinges

24" Continuous Aluminum Hinges

1.5" X 24" with 1/2' long knuckles.

These hinges are made from .040" aluminum, and do not have holes. These hinges can be used to hold the glazing frame of a solar cooker or cut to be used to make a folding solar cooker Holes for screws or rivets can be cut with a 1/8" drill or a Malco 1/8" ceiling grid punch. The ceiling grid punch is made from steel and is stronger than Malco's cast aluminum punch.

18" X 60' .019 X 18" Bright One Side Aluminum Coil

Alloy 3003 H25. We used this to make prototypes and we are selling the remaining coils. This material can be cut and attached to a wood frame or plywood for a solar reflector. Bright Aluminum is an overlooked material for solar ovens, as few metal distributors handle bright aluminum as it is prone to scratches and is rejected by lighting manufactures. These coils will have some inevitable scratches from handling. The scratches will not significantly impact its use in solar cooking.

Bright aluminum will lightly oxidize, but this mainly affects visible light reflection. Oxidized aluminum stays highly IR (heat spectrum) reflective and functions well in solar cooking.

This is an excellent material to make prototypes before going to full production. If this material is to be used without a frame the top and bottom edges can be folded with a Malco folding tool using the 3/8 slot. Folding gives some stiffness to the material and reduce the tendency to coil.

Pricing

$87.00 USD each, plus $32.00 USD shipping and handling each.

Fold-up pre-assembled reflectors

Fold-Up Solar Cooker Reflectors

This is our main product for build-your-own solar oven enthusiasts. We have a limited number of hand assembled folding protypes left,  made from .020 vinly coated anodized aluminum (the vinyl coating is peeled away once the solar cooker is constructed.)

These reflectors have a bottom opening of 16" X 24" with sides that are 11.5" high. The reflectors fold for storage and are used on frames that hold the glazing for solar cookers with outside dimensions of 16" X 24".

Pricing

$56.00 USD each; shipping & handling is free for this item.

Unassembled reflector kit

Unassembled Folding Reflector Kits

These kits include 6 pre-cut hinges and 6 pre-cut anodized aluminum metal pieces, ready for assembly using a pop-rivet tool.

Material can be assembled with 1/8" X 3mm aluminum rivets, and rivet holes can be cut with a 1/8" drill or punched with a ceiling grid punch. It may be helpful to have an assembled prototype reflectors (above) to guide the assembly.

These unassembled reflectors take one fourth of the shipping space that assembled reflectors use when shipping overseas, and are ideal for missionary groups involved with solar where reasonably-priced local labor can be used to assemble them on site.

One bright side aluminum coil

18" X 26' Adhesive-Backed 2 mil Mylar

This material has a heavy paper backing that can be used to draw patterns when making prototype solar reflectors. The adhesive works well when applied to either metal or plywood, and while this material is several times more expensive than Mylar without adhesive, the convenience of having an adhesive applied to the Mylar and having a backing to lay out patterns makes this a great product for hobbyists to use to fabricate solar cookers.

300' $250.00 plus shipping (will be calculated based on destination)

24" X 26' Adhesive-Backed Mylar

Although 24" wide material can be more difficult to apply than 18" material, it can be used to make larger reflectors, such as those to heat water for farm animals in the winter, sterilize bee houses, and reflect light for drying large items.
